Product description

Limestone, or calcium carbonate, is the common rock found throughout the world. Oldest and perhaps slightly overlooked, limestone is very much part of our everyday life. It may be hidden with your walls, in the water you drink, the food you consume, or in the cosmetics.

Types of Limestone:

While Calcium carbonate can be categorized in Limestone family, There are also other types of lime that are used widely in many industries. We can categorize our offered lime stones into three different types. While Cold lime or Calcium carbonate with the chemical formula of CaCo3 is the most common form of limestone, we also have quick lime with the chemical formula of Cao and Hydrated lime which is a mixture of Calcium oxide (Cao) and Water (H2O) with the chemical formula of Ca(OH)2

Applications of Limestone:

  • Painting and coating industries as filler and extender
  • PVC production industry
  • Rubber and plastic industries
  • Manufacturing of composites, ceramics and tiles
  • Detergents manufacturing
  • Paper industry
  • Water refinery
  • Cable and wire industry

ABWAB Minerals supplies Calcium Carbonate (Cold lime), Calcium Oxide (Quick lime) and Hydrated lime in different grades for a wide range of applications.
Here we  have Technical Sales Representatives to assist you in the selection of the appropriate limestone grade that matches the requirements of your intended application.

Limestone family products :

Calcium Carbonate (Cold lime - CaCo3)

Calcium carbonate is rarely found in pure form in nature. In nature, this type of rock is usually in the form of T-sand or dolomitic clay limestone with impurities such as silica, aluminum, magnesium and manganese and..

But fortunately, Abwab corporation has one of the few pure sources of this substance , which has calcium carbonate (caco3) with a purity of over 98%, and during three decades of activity in this field, always after specialized analysis, peeling. Extraction: The finest calcium carbonate (caco3) is collected from quarry and shipped to the processing facility .

Then, in the crushing process with the most advanced machines, this product is produced in 4 completely different sizes according to different needs and applications.

This product is produced in different sizes such as (60-40), (15-40), (10-15), (10-0) mm in high volumes and is prepared in different packages according to customer needs and shipped.

It is noteworthy that the factory has always been able to meet the needs of large domestic and foreign industries such as steel, metal, construction and road construction industries with the highest quality and quantity level during several decades of operation. And customer satisfaction has always caused this production unit to continue its growing trend with all its might by using the latest technology in the field of production.

Quick lime - CaO:
After the Second World War, limestone was used in industrialized countries to stabilize the land, especially to pave roads and prevent plant growth and water absorption in the bed, combs and slopes of roads and runways. This odorless substance is white or gray in solid form with a molar mass of mol / 077g.56, melting point 2570 and boiling point 2580 ° C, is stable with water, but absorbs CO2 in the air and is compatible with water, moisture, strong fluoric acids. Severe eye, skin, respiratory and digestive problems. The material of live micronized powder lime depends on the impurities in it. If the primary limestone is more than 90% by weight of calcium carbonate, the lime obtained from it is rich lime (high purity) and if the calcium carbonate is less than 37% by weight, lime The result is called low-purity lime.
The quick lime supplied by Abwab Minerals are gained from one of the highest quality quarries in the middle east region and processed in our facilities with the European tachnology.

Hydrated lime Ca(OH)2:
Combination of water and calcium oxide (cao) generates heat which causes some of water to evaporate and subsequently, lime is swollen due to water absorption. Then the lime turns into a white powder which is called hydrated lime. This solid odorless (solid odorless) material with hexagonal crystals or soft white granules disintegrates (dissolves) in 580 c before reaching to boiling point. It is soluble in acids and ammonium salt solutions and insoluble in ethanol; it quickly absorbs air co2 (co2 from the air) and turns into calcium carbonate. When (some) water is added to hydrated lime, it turns into lime water which if it is filtered (and if filtered), a clear solution called calcium hydroxide, is obtained. It has many applications in chemical industries, such as preparation of sodium hydroxide, ammonium, per chlorine and it is specifically used to extract magnesium from seawater.

Lump Calcium carbonate of Abwab minerals:
Calcium carbonate which is taken from the quarry is in the form of lump. this type of industrial product is "mineral calcium carbonate" or GCC. GCC, as its name implies, is the result of crushing and processing limestone to create a powder-like form with different sizes and properties for many different industrial and pharmaceutical applications.

Powder calium carbonate:
Calcium carbonate extracted from the mine is in the form of calcium carbonate lumps. This form of calcium carbonate enters the processing facilities and with large mills, it reforms to calcium carbonate powder. Another practical form of this material is that the lump extracted from the mine in large crushers in various sizes and different depending on the application is converted into granulated calcium carbonate. Most of the consumption of calcium carbonate in various manufacturing and industrial industries is in powder form. The same form of calcium carbonate powder has different types of sizing, which varies according to its consumption. The granular type of calcium carbonate also has its own uses. Road infrastructure costs are an example of such applications.

Coated calcium carbonate
Calcium carbonate powder is naturally hydrophilic. This is a problem for many industrial applications. Stearic acid is used to dehydrate calcium carbonate molecules. To do this, they use a thin layer of stearic acid to coat the calcium carbonate molecules.

Stearic acid is one of the most important organic raw materials in the chemical industry, which is a wax-like substance and belongs to the family of fatty acids. The chemical formula of stearic acid CH3 (CH2) is 16COOH. Due to the chemical formula, which has two free OH and O bonds at one end, these types of bonds help inorganic substances to have quasi-organic properties after reacting with this acid. And become hydrophobic in the term.

Abwab minerals also supplys calcium carbonate in coated form.
